I first saw M83 at Coachella earlier this year and they sort of got me then. Before I fell for them, girlfriends of mine encouraged me to scoop up a couple tickets to their Central Park Summer Stage show five months away. I’m so glad I did. The French electronic band led by Anthony Gonzalez brought their excellent show to New York on a perfect summer night supporting their Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming album.
Highlights of the show were “Reunion,” “Steve McQueen” and my favorite song “Wait.” Their best known song, “Midnight City” garnered the biggest applause from a very young, very white, very straight and sometimes obnoxiously drunk and rude crowd. Still, it was a great show especially because of intense keyboardist Morgan Kibby who stole the show in her wavy white dress. Delicious.
